The Local Government Code RA 7160 states that the City Engineering Department under the management and supervision of the City Engineer is the lead agency to:
1. Initiate, review and recommend changes in policies and objectives, plans and programs, techniques, procedure and practices and infrastructure development and public works in general of the local government unit concerned.
2. Administer, coordinate, supervise and control the construction, maintenance, improvement and repair of roads, bridges and other engineering and public works projects of the local government concerned.
3. Advise the City Mayor, as the case may be, on infrastructure, public works and other engineering matters.
4. Provide engineering services to the local government unit concerned, including investigation and survey, engineering design, feasibility studies and project management.
5. Exercise such other powers and perform such other duties and functional as may be prescribed by law or ordinance.
The City Engineering Department is open from Monday to Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., with no noon breaks.
The Mission of this Department to provide and manage quality infra facilities, public works, roads and bridges, public parks and open spaces responsive to the needs of the San Juanenos in pursuit of Makabagong San Juan.
The Vision of this Department is to attain the highest quality standard of public works and infrastructure projects for the City of San Juan.
