HISTORY

Barangay Salapan was named after the word “Salapang”, a bamboo stick with pointed end in the bottom and tied like a cone. Use by early settlers to catch fish in the creek of Salapan with 16 inches in diameter at the bottom and 7 inches on top of enable the hand and arm of the fisherman to enter inside the salapang to get caught fish.

GEOGRAPHY

San Juan City is situated in the central part of Metropolitan Manila, known as one of the boundaries among the sixteen cities and one municipality comprising the metropolis, and the western boundaries are Quezon City and the City of Manila, Respectively. While the City of Mandaluyong from its southern and eastern boundaries. San Juan a slightly rolling terrain. However, areas like Barangay Progreso near San Juan river is Low and Prone to flooding all streets of the Barangay.

Barangay Salapan is Located in the northwestern part of the City of San Juan. It is surrounded by Salapan Creek in the West, Northeastern and in the East boarder is the Barangay Ermitano and the South boarder is the centerline of the Aurora Boulevard facing Barangay Balong Bato.

San Juan has a land area of 5.94 sq. km. It is one of the smallest and congested cities in the metropolis occupying 0.009% of Metropolitan Manila’s 636 sq. km. Barangay Salapan’s land area is 17,862 has. Which belong to District 1 out of Two Districts of San Juan City, with a population of 8,747 (2015 NSO) and 2,143 households or families.

“FORMULATE AND COMMUNICATE CONSISTENT AND EQUITABLE / FAIR HUMAN RESOURCES AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT POLICIES, PROGRAMS, PROJECTS, WHICH ARE ESSENTIAL TO GOOD BARANGAY GOVERNANCE.”

 

TARGETS

“TO FULLY ACCOMPLISH AND IMPLEMENT THE 3-YEARS PROGRAM, PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES THAT RUN PARALLEL TO NATIONAL GOVERNMENT EFFORTS OF IMPROVING THE LIVES OF THE CONSTITUENTS BASED ON THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS, TRANSPARENCY, RESPONSIVENESS, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND PARTICIPATION.”

 

OBJECTIVES

1. Increase effectiveness in the utilization of financial and human resources required to guide development efforts.
2. To perform specific roles, functions, and responsibilities for better ecological/ environmental protection and management. 3. To facilitate and support the constituents through community service.
4. To maximize the contributes and assistance provided by city leaders, and community development practitioners.
5. To implement program. Project, and activities that run parallel to national government efforts of improving the lives of the constituents based on the following elements. Transparency, Responsiveness, Accountability and Participation.
