PRESS RELEASE March 8, 2010
SHAM CANDIDATES, SNEAKY ELECTION PLOYS, ONLY IN THE PHILIPPINESThe records show that the poverty rate in the country is currently at its worst and ironically, the poor are now even used in the cunning election scheme of a presidentiable who is himself, involved with a big scam. The same presidentiable claims to have come from a poor family and a pro-poor, but had no qualms in spending half a billion of pesos in campaign ads alone just for the last quarter of 2009. This was when the campaign period has not even started yet and while millions of Filipinos are hungry. It is also ironic how the tag line “Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap” is now prominently used as a catch phrase in campaign trails, obviously hitting the present administration.Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap. True, but who in the first place put GMA, perceived as the most disliked and most corrupt Malacanang occupant in the first place? Those responsible for installing GMA should be liable, that includes of course the two leading presidential candidates. Sila ang naglagay sa magnanakaw. Now that the election is near, those who became instruments in the GMA’s illegal stay in Malacañang in 2001 and 2004 seem to be regretful and even apologetic; realizing that GMA was their biggest mistake. Now, they are the ones who vociferously denounce their beloved president. How sincere and how far can these repentful former GMA collaborators go?JOSEPH VICTOR G.
