San Juan is situated in the central part of Metropolitan Manila, known as one of the boundaries among the thirteen cities comprising the metropolis. And the western boundaries are Quezon City and the City of Manila, respectively. While the city of Mandaluyong from it’s southern and eastern boundaries. Barangay Ermitaño is located in the north-eastern part of San Juan City. It is surrounded by Ermitaño creek in the east and south-east. It is bounded by Salapan on the north, Balong-bato on the north-west, Pasadeña and Corazon de Jesus on the east.
Ermitaño has a land area of approximately, 40,000 square meters. The land is mostly adobe. Water coming from nearby barangays flow all the way to the Pasig River. It’s population are more or less 3,300 or about 600 families. Roughly 40% of the people belong to the middle class. It has more or less, 60 business establishments. It is near shopping malls like Greenhills, SM Centerpoint, Araneta Center, Ortigas Center. It is also accessible to hospitals like Cardinal Santos, St. Lukes Hospital, and San Juan Medical Center.
Being in the heart of the region’s plateau, the City of San Juan is free of earthquake damage risk. Generally, San Juan has slightly rolling terrain, however, area like ermitaño, where some structures are near the creek, especially R. Lagmay Street and the end portion of Grey Street, are prone to flooding.
