INTRODUCTION TO THE GUEST SPEAKER
Our guest speaker is an established entrepreneur and an emerging icon in politics.
His leadership potential revealed when he exceptionally led the Junior Chamber of the Philippines, or Jaycees Movement, as its National President in 1998 and bagged the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Asia-Pacific Most Outstanding National President when Manila hosted the 53rd JCI World Congress that same year. Having projected an image of being quiet and shy, he amazed the political industry by having accomplished so much as a civic leader at a very young age, following the footsteps of his father, President Joseph “Erap” Estrada, and living the good values and discipline instilled by his mother, philanthropist and businesswoman, Ms. Guia Guanzon Gomez.
Our speaker is a visionary with an intense passion to serve. He traversed the less traveled road by uniting the youths of diverse cultures throughout the archipelago, which was owed to his leadership in various youth organizations which he effortlessly instituted and administered such as Kabataan ng Masang Pilipino (KAMPIL), Batang E.R.A.P. (Estudyanteng Responsable para sa Aktibong Pamamahala), Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) Youth, Mamamayan Ayaw sa Droga (MAD), and the National Youth Commission (NYC), to name a few. He was responsible for the victory of most of the Genuine’s Opposition candidates as Deputy Campaign Manager.
A proud alumnus of Xavier School and the De La Salle University where he finished Bachelor of Arts degree major in Political Science, he was able to build an improved image of San Juan despite the absence of support from the national government. Likewise, his efficiency and sincerity in public service earned his constituents’ trust and, thus, the biggest number of votes in the town’s history during the 2004 and 2007 local elections. One of the pillars of the United Opposition or UNO and one of the most, if not the most, hardworking local chief executives in Metro Manila, he inspired young Filipinos in making a difference by excelling in their fields of endeavor and contributing their talents to the country and fellowmen. He brought San Juan to great heights through his “economic miracle” recognizing the municipality as the Most Progressive Municipality in the country for 2006 by the Commission on Audit, despite not getting any support from the national government. San Juan is likewise recognized as the best fiscally-managed LGU in the country. Apart from all these, his efforts brought the most-yearned for cityhood of San Juan in 2007.
A basketball and boxing enthusiast, the young, energetic mayor of the new City of San Juan, and the 2007 The Outstanding Young Men awardee for government service, ladies and gentlemen, Hon. JOSEPH VICTOR G. EJERCITO.
